Piece Keeper 0.99 24th January, 2006. Abandoned Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Not available |
Description
Piece Keeper is an application designed for encrypting files using a user-generated key-pair into the new Universal Cipher Container format. By default, encryption is performed using the AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) Rijndael 256-BIT standard which is sanctioned by the American government for encryption of data up to the Top Secret classification.
A key-pair (essentially two small files) is used for the encryption and decryption of file data. These keys can be generated via random data or via a user-entered password. Once data has been encrypted with a key-pair, that data cannot be decrypted without the original key-pair being available; this presents an extremely secure method of protecting your data.
You can place the keys on a removable device (eg. USB pen) and only insert the device into the host PC when you want to encrypt or decrypt data.
